The Fleeting Nature of Life: Why Taking Things for Granted is a Luxury We Can't Afford

I've been thinking about something lately, and I bet you've had these thoughts too.

You know those mornings when you wake up, pull open your curtains, and there's this brilliant sun out there? Or those days when you feel like everything's just...working? Your body, your health, your life—it's all humming along, and you don't even think twice about it. Taking all this for something natural; for something that will not change.

It's human nature, right? We're hardwired to adapt and get used to our surroundings. But here's the kicker: What if, one day, you wake up and things aren't the same? The sun's hidden behind the clouds, your health isn't at its peak, or life throws a curveball at you. Makes you think, doesn't it?

The Impermanence of Life

Consider this: The sun, your health, your home—all these things we often take for granted. They're not set in stone. And if 2020 taught us anything, it's that life can be unpredictable. There are no guarantees. However, it. is not my goal to make you sad or anxious. My intention is to get you to think about all of the above and other 'granted' things in different ways.

Think about Marcus Aurelius, the great Stoic philosopher and emperor, who once said, "Loss is nothing else but change, and change is Nature’s delight." Change is the only constant. So, what we have today—whether it's good health, a loving family, or even the sun shining—might not be there tomorrow.

What You Gain from Gratitude

Tony Robbins, an individual I greatly admire, often speaks about the power of gratitude. Why? Because when you're grateful, you're living in abundance. You're focused on what you have, not what you lack. And this shift in focus? It's transformative.

Imagine sending out these vibes of gratitude, love, and contentment to the universe. You're basically telling the universe, "Hey, I appreciate all this goodness." And trust me, the universe listens. When you're grateful, you're inviting more abundance, more happiness, and more of those good vibes into your life.

Mindset Tips? I've Got Two For You!

But, I hear you say, "Rad, what if I'm having a rough day? What if things aren't going my way? What then?"

Ah, my friend, this is where the mindset shift comes into play.

The 5-Minute Gratitude Journal

Every morning, take out a notepad and write down three things you're grateful for. It could be as simple as a hot cup of coffee or as profound as a loved one's smile. This simple act sets the tone for the day, reminding you of life's little blessings.

The 'Flip It' Method

Every time you're faced with a challenge or a negative thought, flip it. Ask yourself, "What's the silver lining here?" There's always a positive side, even if it's a lesson in disguise. This method helps you focus on solutions, not problems.

Exercise Time: The 'Mirror Talk'

Alright, here's a fun one for you. Every morning, after brushing your teeth, look yourself in the mirror. Lock eyes with your reflection and say, "Today is a gift. I will cherish it." This simple exercise acts as a reminder that every day is an opportunity—a chance to experience, learn, and grow.
