You can't pour from an empty cup. How can you support others emotionally if your own emotional well-being is in jeopardy?
So, what's the solution? It's not to stop helping others but rather to balance that help with self-care. Your first responsibility is to yourself, to nurture your own growth, happiness, and satisfaction in life. It is being a little bit of an egoist in a positive way. Taking. care of your wellbeing, fulfilment and needs. Once you're overflowing with positive energy, you'll have more to give to others.

You might think that you're doing a world of good by putting everyone else first. In reality, you're setting yourself up for a domino effect of negative consequences. Let's say you're a parent, juggling work, kids, and a home. You're so occupied with being the rock for your family that you forget to take time for yourself. What happens next? Your performance at work declines, you're snappy with your kids, and the home environment becomes tense.
Your loved ones will sense this shift. They will feel the weight of your unspoken frustrations and your hidden sadness. You can't hide it; it will surface one way or another. You might think you're doing everyone a favour by taking on their troubles, but if it comes at the expense of your happiness, then it's a lose-lose situation for all. Do you want that?
