What Are Habits Anyway?
Habits are like sneaky little ninjas that shape our lives, often without us even noticing. They are formed through a loop of four stages: cue, craving, response, and reward. Let's break it down:
TheCue
This is the trigger that initiates the habit. It could be a specific time of day, such as in the morning before work or in the evening after dinner. Alternatively, it could be an emotional state, like feeling stressed or motivated. It may even be a particular location, such as the gym or a cosy corner in your favourite cafe.
The Craving
The craving, which is the deep-seated desire or strong motivation behind the habit, is what drives and compels you to take decisive action. It acts as an invisible force that fuels your determination and propels you towards achieving your goals and aspirations. It is the catalyst that ignites your inner fire, pushing you to go beyond your limits and embrace new possibilities. Strengthened by this powerful craving, you embark on a transformative journey towards personal growth and self-actualization.
The Response
The response, which follows the cue and craving, is the actual action you take. It is the very essence of the habit that determines your subsequent behaviour and actions.
The Reward
Finally, the reward is the delightful and satisfying positive outcome you experience after completing the habit. Whether it is the sense of accomplishment, the surge of endorphins, or the pride you feel in accomplishing something meaningful, this rewarding experience reinforces the loop, creating a strong desire to repeat the habit again and again.

You can't do a habit if you don't remember to do it, right? So, make your cues stand out! For example, if you want to meditate daily, leave your yoga mat right next to your bed. When you wake up, boom! There's the cue, staring you in the face, saying, "Hey, let's meditate, baby!"
Crave the Attractive
Habits are easier to stick to when they're fun and enticing. Find ways to make the habit enjoyable. If your goal is to eat healthier, experiment with new delicious recipes that make your taste buds tango with joy. Who knew healthy eating could be this mouthwatering?
Easy Peasy Response
Let's face it; we're all a bit lazy sometimes. But hey, that's okay! Make the habit as easy as pie to do. If you want to exercise daily, don't aim for a two-hour gym session at first. Start with a 15-minute home workout. You'll be more likely to do it, and once you get going, you might even decide to keep going!
Rewarding Rewards
Ah, rewards! The cherry on top of the habit sundae! Celebrate your victories, no matter how small. Treat yourself to something you love after sticking to your habit for a set period of time. Maybe it's a fancy coffee, a chapter of your favourite book, or a quick dance party in your living room. Get creative and savour the rewards!
